»Blind Wine and Cheese Tasting Go Fly a Kite – A great family event. This event can be held at a park or beach. Ask a local craft shop or toy retailer to donate the kites and paints for the program. (If that is not possible see if you can purchase these items wholesale.) Bring the kites and paints to the park and set up tables. Each person who purchases a kite can then decorate it. You determine the price. At a specific time, encourage all participants to fly their kites and explain that this pleasurable activity would be very difficult for the visually impaired. This is a great family outing and a great lesson for children on helping others less fortunate than themselves. “Blind” Wine and Cheese Parties – This one is for the adults! Invite 6 – 10 couples over to your house for a wine and cheese party. Each couple brings a bottle of wine and a piece of cheese. Conduct your own “Blind” wine tasting by covering or removing the labels from the wines and cheese. For every wrong guess, each guest has to put a specified amount in a bowl. Test your tasting skills and have fun at the same time! Stuff a School Bus – See how many adults and children you can stuff in a school bus! Ask participants to bring an audio book with them to donate to the local library. All donations accepted! Maybe you and your team can make it into the Guinness Book of Records. Math-a-thon Jeopardy – A great way to learn math, challenge your math skills and have fun at the same time. Teams or families compete against each other – who can solve the most math problems the fastest. Penalties are charged for wrong answers! |
